Getafe Move Closer to Enes Ünal Return

Getafe are advancing toward re-signing Turkish striker Enes Ünal from Bournemouth, according to Spanish outlet Diario AS. The forward has reached a full agreement with his former club over personal terms, although the transfer has not yet been finalized with Bournemouth. As a result, Ünal favors a second spell at the Coliseum over interest from elsewhere in La Liga, since it remains the place where he produced his finest form.

Sevilla had spent much of the summer working to bring Ünal to the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium, and talks between the two sides progressed significantly. However, Getafe’s late entry into the race shifted the situation entirely, since the striker’s personal preference ultimately tipped toward returning to familiar surroundings rather than starting a new project in Seville.

Bournemouth Debt Could Ease Enes Ünal Getafe Return

Ünal first joined Bournemouth on loan in January 2024 before the English club exercised a mandatory purchase option that summer, completing a transfer worth around 16.5 million euros. Even so, Bournemouth still owes Getafe part of that fee, and this outstanding balance has become a central factor in the current negotiations. Consequently, Bournemouth appear willing to send Ünal back to Getafe in order to offset the remaining debt, which could allow the Spanish club to sign him for a greatly reduced fee or even for free.

Meanwhile, Ünal’s time in England has fallen well short of expectations. Persistent injuries, including two separate knee problems suffered between 2023 and 2025, limited him to roughly 1,000 minutes and just five goals for Bournemouth. That record contrasts sharply with his previous spell at Getafe, where he scored close to 30 goals across two seasons and quickly became one of the club’s most reliable attacking threats.

Therefore, given his consistent output and strong relationship with supporters during his first spell, Ünal remains a popular figure among Getafe fans. His potential homecoming is now edging closer to completion, though the final details with Bournemouth still need to be resolved before the move can be confirmed.
