Some places explain a team better than any results sheet can. Tavullia is one of them, and in August it opened its doors to a visitor from a long way outside the MotoGP paddock.
12B SPORTS, Main Sponsor of Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team, brought Hollywood actor Sung Kang to the hillside town in Italy where the team was founded and where its culture still lives. Hosted as a guest of both brands, Sung Kang was welcomed inside the world that gives MotoGP its character.
A ride, a road sign and a garage
The day began the way most days in Tavullia begin, on two wheels. Sung Kang rode the hills above the town and passed its celebrated 46 km/h sign, the small civic joke that tells any visitor exactly whose home this is, before arriving at the VR46 headquarters.
Inside, he walked the garage and met the engineers and technicians who prepare the team’s Ducati machines, the people whose work rarely reaches a broadcast camera but decides what happens on Sunday. Lunch followed at Bar Pizzeria da Rossi with riders Fabio Di Giannantonio and Franco Morbidelli. What he found was less a global racing operation than a family, everyone moving to the same rhythm.
For an actor whose best-known work has been built around car culture and the people who gather around it, the parallel was not hard to draw. The machinery changes. The reason people show up does not.
Why Tavullia matters
Most MotoGP teams are addresses on an industrial estate. VR46 is a town. The team founded by nine-time World Champion Valentino Rossi never moved away from the place that produced it, and that decision shapes everything from how the workshop feels to how the fans treat a race weekend. Opening it to a guest is the most direct answer a team can give to the question of what it actually is.
“Tavullia is where this team started, and opening our doors is the truest way to show what VR46 Racing Team is,” said Alessio Salucci, Team Director, Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team. “With 12B SPORTS, we want fans everywhere to know the people behind the results.”
“Passion has a way of making complete strangers feel like they have known each other forever,” said Rory Anderson, spokesperson for 12B SPORTS. “That is the spirit we share with Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team, and the reason we brought this story to fans.”
Bringing fans closer to the sport
MotoGP is defined as much by community as by competition. The 2026 season has already shown how much of the championship’s appeal sits outside the timing screens, in the workshops, the towns and the routines that carry a team through a year of racing.
That is the ground 12B SPORTS set out to cover when it became Main Sponsor of Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team for the 2026 MotoGP World Championship. A day in Tavullia is one way to do it. There will be more.
