The wait is over for badminton fans as organizers released the full draw for the 2026 Japan Open Badminton Championships. Given its BWF Super 750 status, the tournament carries serious weight, and nearly every top-tier player from rival badminton nations has entered to challenge Japan’s home advantage.

Japan Open Badminton Draw Highlights Men’s Singles Firepower

Top seed Shi Yuqi anchors the upper half of the men’s singles bracket. However, his opening test won’t be easy. He faces Japanese rising star Yudai Okimoto, who just claimed the Canada Open title last week. Loh Kean Yew and Christo Popov also share this section, adding further danger to Shi’s path.

Meanwhile, the lower half looks equally loaded. Chou Tien Chen, Anders Antonsen, home favorite Koki Watanabe and Lakshya Sen all occupy that side of the draw. Consequently, none of these contenders can afford to underestimate their rivals on the road to the final.

Women’s Singles Draw Turns into Three-Nation Showdown

The women’s singles section shapes up as a fierce three-way rivalry between China, Japan and South Korea. Top seed An Se Young leads the upper half, while second seed Wang Zhiyi anchors the lower half.

Japan, however, brings serious depth of its own. Akane Yamaguchi, Natsuki Nidaira and Hina Akechi form a formidable home block spread across the bracket. Therefore, any player hoping for a deep run must first survive a gauntlet of Japanese opponents at nearly every stage.

Both singles draws promise blockbuster clashes from the earliest rounds. Every contender will face gruelling tests before anyone lifts the trophy, making this edition of the Japan Open one to watch closely from start to finish.
