Marc Marquez will not be replaced at the Monster Energy Grand Prix of Catalunya this weekend, leaving Francesco Bagnaia as the sole Ducati Lenovo Team entry at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
The reigning MotoGP World Champion is recovering from a double surgical procedure on his right foot and shoulder, carried out in Madrid following a crash during the Tissot Sprint at the French Grand Prix. The surgery was confirmed as successful, but the tight turnaround between Le Mans and Barcelona made a replacement impossible to arrange.
Ducati opted against calling up a stand-in rider, meaning Bagnaia will carry the full weight of the factory effort on his own this weekend.
The seven-time world champion’s return date remains unconfirmed. All eyes will be on the coming weeks as the MotoGP paddock waits to learn when the 2025 title winner will be back on the bike.
