A podium looked within reach at Brno on Sunday. However, Fabio Di Giannantonio had to settle for fourth at the Monster Energy GP of Czechia.

Di Giannantonio Czech GP Charge Falls Just Short

The VR46 rider launched well from the front row and grabbed second into the first corner. However, a frantic opening lap pushed him back to sixth. From there, he refused to give up.

Lap after lap, Fabio clawed his way forward and unleashed blistering pace. In fact, he missed the podium by only one tenth of a second. He also set his best lap of the race, a 1’53″122, on the final tour.

That result still carries real weight. As a result, the Di Giannantonio Czech GP weekend keeps him third in the championship with 157 points. Moreover, he trimmed the gap to leader Marco Bezzecchi to just 23 points.

Morbidelli Keeps Pushing

Franco Morbidelli also made progress on a tricky weekend. The Italian-Brazilian started from the third row and fought inside the top 10 for long spells. Yet he eventually crossed the line in thirteenth. He now sits fourteenth overall with 43 points.

Di Giannantonio admitted a mistake at Turn 3 on lap one complicated everything. Still, he praised the team’s pace and insisted the title fight stays wide open.

Morbidelli described another weekend of mixed emotions. Despite riding at the limit, he struggled for grip and corner speed. Even so, he promised the team will keep hunting for answers.

Team boss Pablo Nieto shared the bittersweet mood. He saluted the front row and fourth place, yet he wants the squad back on the rostrum soon.

Next comes the Dutch TT at Assen from 26 to 28 June. Therefore, the Di Giannantonio Czech GP near-miss now fuels a fresh charge at one of the sport’s most iconic circuits.
