The Di Giannantonio Brno Sprint became a story about tyres on a baking Saturday afternoon. Fabio Di Giannantonio rolled the dice on rubber, and it quietly cost him a shot at the podium. Even so, he walked away with points that matter.

Di Giannantonio Brno Sprint Keeps the Title Charge Alive

Di Giannantonio launched from the front row after a sharp qualifying effort of 1’51″350. He got away cleanly and slotted straight into the leading pack. For all ten laps, he shadowed the top three. However, his medium rear tyre lacked drive on corner exit, especially in the early stages.

As a result, he could not bridge the final gap and crossed the line fourth. Still, the Di Giannantonio Brno Sprint delivered crucial championship points. He now holds third in the standings with 144 points, just 36 behind the leader.

Franco Morbidelli endured a rougher day. He battled through Q1 with a 1’51″851 lap, then qualified ninth. Yet a sluggish getaway from the third row buried him in traffic. Meanwhile, he clawed back ground across the race and finished twelfth. The Italian-Brazilian now sits fourteenth on 40 points.

What the Riders Said

Di Giannantonio owned the tyre call, admitting the medium left him short on traction early on. Nevertheless, he pushed to the flag before banking points once the gap grew too wide. He also praised Valentino Rossi, who joined the garage this weekend as his coach.

Morbidelli, meanwhile, blamed his weak start for the struggle. Still, he took confidence from reaching Q2 and promised the team would keep chasing pace.

The grand prix closes the Czech weekend on Sunday, with lights out at 14:00 local time. For Di Giannantonio, another front-running ride could shrink that title gap even further.
