A first-corner crash could not stop Fabio Di Giannantonio from reminding the MotoGP paddock exactly what he is made of. Caught up in a multi-rider incident at the Balaton Park Circuit, the VR46 rider rejoined at 18th place and immediately went to work, cutting through the field with the kind of pace that had team management believing a podium was genuinely on the cards.
By the chequered flag, Di Giannantonio had climbed to 12th, adding valuable points to his championship tally and holding firm in 3rd place in the World Standings with 138 points. The result was not what anyone wanted, but the performance told a different story: the pace was there, and the belief within the garage remains sky-high.
Franco Morbidelli had a tougher afternoon, crossing the line in 14th after struggling to find rhythm throughout the race weekend. The Italian-Brazilian rider and the team are working closely with Ducati to unlock better grip and consistency, and both sides are confident the analysis from Budapest will point them in the right direction.
With the Czech Republic GP at Automotodrom Brno just two weeks away, Di Giannantonio is already focused on converting that raw pace into a result that reflects his true potential. Brno could well be the moment VR46’s championship charge truly ignites.
