Liang Wei Keng Wang Chang Open Up on Their Title Hunger

Chinese men’s doubles pair Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang have admitted they are hungry to finally land a world title, ahead of the 2026 BWF World Championships in New Delhi. Speaking before the tournament, Liang Wei Keng Wang Chang said they badly wanted to win gold, since they had missed out on top honours at several major events across their partnership.

Liang said that his overall feeling and mindset were positive, adding that the duo intended to stay true to their original ambitions and recapture their high spirited momentum. Meanwhile, Wang echoed that sentiment, noting that they were working to get into solid form for the two major tournaments ahead. Wang also admitted that the pair were genuinely eager to lift a major trophy, having fallen short at several big occasions, including a bronze finish at the 2023 World Championships and a silver medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Liang Wei Keng Wang Chang Face a Tricky Bottom Half Draw

For the New Delhi edition, China have entered two men’s doubles pairs, with Liang Wei Keng Wang Chang joined by teammates Chen Boyang and Liu Yi, who reached last year’s World Championships final. As a seeded pair, Liang Wei Keng Wang Chang have landed in the bottom half of the draw, alongside Denmark’s Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen, as well as fifth seeded home favourites Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty. Other seeded pairs sharing that half include Indonesia’s Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri, together with Japan’s Takuro Hoki and Yugo Kobayashi.

As a result, Liang Wei Keng Wang Chang have received a first round bye, which lets them progress automatically while conserving energy for the rounds ahead. However, the bye is something of a double edged sword, since men’s doubles depends heavily on rhythm and partnership chemistry, and skipping the opening match could mean a slower start once real competition begins in round two.
