Morbidelli Keeps VR46's Barcelona Test Rolling Despite Rain Cutting Day Short

Rain had the final say at Barcelona on Monday, but not before Franco Morbidelli made the most of what the day had to offer.

The Italian veteran was the sole VR46 rider in action for the official post-race MotoGP test, with teammate Fabio Di Giannantonio sitting out to recover from his Catalan GP crash the day before. Morbidelli made every lap count in the morning, completing 41 laps and clocking a best time of 1’39″128 to place 8th overall.

When the rain moved in during the afternoon, the team decided to call it a day rather than risk unnecessary running, wrapping up early with the results already in the bag.

The session gave Morbidelli valuable time to explore setup solutions that race weekend schedules rarely allow, and he left Barcelona sounding encouraged. He said the test helped him feel more at home on the Ducati, and that the confidence he has been building over recent rounds is pointing the team in the right direction.

With Di Giannantonio now focused on recovery, all eyes shift to Mugello. The Italian GP at Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello runs from May 29 to 31, and for a team based in nearby Tavullia, it does not get more personal than a home race.
