The San Antonio Spurs are heading back to the NBA Finals after defeating the Oklahoma City Thunder 111-103 in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals.
San Antonio delivered under pressure on the road, closing out the series 4-3 and ending Oklahoma City’s title defense. The win sends the Spurs to their first NBA Finals appearance since 2014, where they will face the New York Knicks.
Victor Wembanyama led the Spurs with 22 points and 7 rebounds, anchoring San Antonio on both ends of the floor in the biggest game of the season. Julian Champagnie also played a crucial role, adding 20 points and hitting six three-pointers to give the Spurs vital spacing and scoring support.
The Thunder were carried by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who finished with 35 points and 9 assists, but Oklahoma City could not complete its comeback. The absence of Jalen Williams due to a hamstring injury also hurt the Thunder’s offensive balance in a decisive Game 7.
San Antonio’s composure proved decisive. The Spurs started sharply, handled Oklahoma City’s late push, and held firm in the closing stretch despite the pressure of playing away from home. Their organized defense and timely shot-making allowed them to control enough key moments to secure the eight-point victory.
With the win, San Antonio advances to the NBA Finals against New York. Game 1 is scheduled for Wednesday, June 3, at 8:30 p.m. ET in San Antonio.
